I mentioned that I was using the Vitae SL theme on my wind. I discovered there was a windowblinds port of Vitae. I am a big fan of windowblinds. Running windows without windowblinds constitutes cruel and unusual punishment in my book.
The download of the windowblinds skin included some extras including a toolbar for something called Styler. I noticed the screenshot for the skin featured a very Finder-like explorer window which was creating using Styler and FindeXer (get it?).
I followed this tutorial and was able to achieve a pretty mac-like look on xp:
Just wanted to point out that people may find styler and findexer useful even if they aren’t trying for a mac look. You can download various toolbars for styler which aren’t mac related. And findexer simply allows you to put links to arbitrary things in the left pane of explorer and customize how they look. Not sure if either of these work on anything other than xp though…
