cheap trick brings back the 8 track

Enjoyed this globe article today about the Trick’s upcoming album The Latest. Apparently, they will be shipping it to radio stations (who don’t play their new releases anyways) on 8 track tapes. Nice! Sadly, it does not appear the public will be able to purchase it in this awesome retro format. :(

Of even greater interest in this article was the mention of a possible upcoming release of a re-recording of In Color. This billboard article from last year confirms that it is the 1998 Albini session which is of course awesome stuff. :)

  • Wow! Thanks for the Cheap Trick news. Looking forward to their new one. And of course that Albini re-recording is awesome. Nice that it will see an official release.

  • You can purchase the 8-track for $30 on Trick’s website through Music Today.

  • Ah, that’s cool. Now I just have to get out to the garage sales and find myself a player!

uhn-uh. just hang out in chinatown and look for the building in the most pronounced state of disrepair. oftentimes, plastic bags will be implemented as quasi-functioning attempts to mask said disrepair. for example, plastic bags are nominally effective rain-proofing patch kits that make rusted out mailboxes last 7 more years…

in any event, simply climb up the trellis, careful not to disrupt the growth of long beans, and thru the chicken-gauge wired-over window to gain entrance to the attic. you will at once find 1974 as 1975 left it. you’ll find the 8track player resting on an acrylic chair. grab and go.

  • Yes, but will it feature the “ass speakers” pictured at the bottom of this page?
