jim thompson collection

29 by thompsonI previously wrote about (nearly) completing my David Goodis collection. [a picture of the books is here] I decided to take a look at what it would take to get my Jim Thompson collection in similar shape since they are my two favourite hardboiled authors. Based on this bibliography, I had about 15 of his 30 novels. However, a quick survey of online booksellers suggested that most of the missing titles were either in print or had recently been so. I have now managed to reduce my missing Thompson titles to two: Nothing But A Man and Child Of Rage. I’m not too torn up about not having these titles. They are later, less regarded works and the first is a for-hire novelization. Copies can be had for $40 and $95 respectively so unlike my missing Goodis, I may well pick them up at some point. But for now, I have plenty to read! ;)

  • Awesome! He is one of the best, that’s for sure. We’re not even close to thirty. I only count five in our collection, but we’ve read more.

  • Yeah, I’ve certainly read some of the ones I bought recently either from the library when I was at McGill or the Waterloo Public Library years ago…
