Enjoyed this great article on a variety of winter beers available at the lcbo. I trotted down to my local outlet and picked up several of them to try out. In particular, I was intrigued by Ola Dubh, a Scottish ale aged in scotch whisky barrels. I’d never been there before and it was pretty great. Mazinaw Lake is the second deepest lake in Ontario outside the Great Lakes and Mazinaw Rock is known as “Canada’s Rock of Gibraltar”, rising 100 meters above the lake. The ferry itself is actually quite interesting…it’s part of the Ontario highway system and is free to use. They offer a monthly “taster” of five cheeses chosen from Canada and around the world. I was there with my parents and my brother’s family. Enjoyed some hiking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, eating, drinking and even just some plain relaxing. At a whopping 9% alcohol, you probably don’t need to drink too many of these at once.
